It's the best summer ever blog's birthday!

A year ago today I started this blog with hopes of making the most of my summer and turning everyday into something special.
This blog has pushed me to do more things and experience Sacramento in ways I would not have done otherwise. To those have been looking at this blog and to those that are new to it, I hope this all brings you some kind of enjoyment. As my memory goes, I will get to look back and think, "boy that was one long, excellent summer." Let us keep this shit going, shall we?

I got this rad barely worn pair Italian leather vintage? shoes for 3 bucks. I don't get thrift stores. Sometimes they think an item is weird and assume no one wants it, when really they are down pricing an item that is special and worth much more

It's great to be alive today

I had the good fortune to get invited to a lovely Memorial Day bbq/house show. I honestly could not have had a better day. The house was surrounded by woods and brick buildings and was an absolutely magical way to see some music played. Knock knock sounded amazing
There were dogs running around and a fire. I really cannot describe the atmosphere fully.
The Smittens were adorable. This guy had such a rad low Stephin Merritt voice and then busted out a melodica, so of course I loved it.

The kids were entertained for hours throwing ice and water into the fountain. kids.

catching up

Had some play time with Angela
My goal at restaurants is usually to find the most unusual dish on a menu and go for that.
So I tried the watermelon and prosciutto pizza from Paesanos. Chefs are usually not going to put something strange on the menu if they aren't totally sure of the dish. I wouldn't necessarily get this again, but the flavor combination was exciting.

Angela really goes for it with her frozen yogurt. I admire that.

from Rags to Riches, or something like that

My darling Gabriel has gone from being the sign holder at Iron Steaks to making a special for the menu.I'm very proud. We did a test run of a Thai steak salad and it was delicious.
It would please me very much if you took a trip to Iron (on Broadway across from Target) from Wednesday through Sunday and order the Thai salad and let him know what you think.
do it. I think you are going to like it.

big bold patterns

I attempted to purchase shorts, this is apparently harder to do then purchasing pants. So I bought three really bold printed items at Thrift Town instead.

mystery fair at Southside

Took a walk to find some sort of fair happening at Southside Park.
We determined, because of a man doing karaoke, that this was a predominately Russian speaking affair.
There were tents with food with signs that just said "2x5." "I can solve that," said Gabriel.
