Rough day

Holidays mean busy times at work. I had a quiet evening at home with this
An exploration of ugliness through visual art
Some of my favorites:

Francesco Mosso
Claude's Wife

1877
George Grosz
The Writer
1925

Egon Schiele
Young Woman Sitting

1926
It's a great book with paintings that may have had "ugly" subjects, but are actually incredibly beautiful.

  1. During watching burlesque I was thinking about the awesome ugly/beauty of the dancers in the movie caberet. and how sad it is that movies so often fail to capture that now. Such a perfect mix of ugly and beauty. Jay has dubbed this combo in ladies frankenfine.

  2. Funny, while watching Burlesque I was contemplating the ugly/beauty of Xtina's implants. Sometimes they looked spectacular, sometimes terrible.

    Totally Jolie-laide!

  3. Frankenfine! Love it. Man, everyone has been making fun of me for kind of wanting to see Burlesque.
